Meet the Teacher
Greetings! My name is Mrs. Alicia C. Ward and I have the wonderful opportunity of having your child in my 3rd grade Social Studies class this year. I graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2006. This is my 8th year at Egypt Elementary School and my third year teaching Social Studies in the third grade. I have been married for six years and have two amazing children. I am looking forwarding to spending time this year with your child and watching him/her learn while working toward impacting the world through education.
I believe that children learn by doing. They learn by working with others, planning, discussing, handling materials, and conducting experiments. Children learn at different rates, using different strengths and different learning styles. It is important for me to respond to each child's own level of development. Children learn when they feel good about themselves. My classroom environment is based on appreciation and respect for the individual, and with honor toward all types of differences. Children learn when they are encouraged to recognize their own worth and potential. I expect every student to work harder than they think they can, in order to achieve real goals. Children learn when their parents are active participants in their school and education. Parent involvement is a key ingredient in the success of a classroom. I welcome you all to my class, and hope to be a partner with you all year.
In conclusion, I count it a privilege and an honor to serve your family in this capacity. I pledge to give you my best, and I look forward to challenging your child in my class this year. I cannot wait to see the great things your child will accomplish through perseverance and committing wholeheartedly to the process.
Your partner in education,
Mrs. A. Ward
